Wonder Wheels
200 Bikes per Year
Since 2006
18 years in the making
Over 3400 Kids
have received a bike in our program
Every Ride is an Adventure
Whether you’re five or 85, the world looks different from a bicycle – and Wonder Wheels wants everyone to experience the thrill of the ride.
Since 2006, Obsession: Bikes has asked for and received hundreds of previously loved bikes. We then fix them up and give them to kids and families in our community who otherwise would never know the freedom that a bike can bring: the lesson of ownership. The power of movement. This is our way to give back to the community.
3 ways to help with Wonder Wheels:
1. Donate a pre-loved Bike!
Do you have a bike kicking around that hasn’t been ridden in a while? Has your kid grown out of their bike and would like to pass it to someone else? Maybe you’re a retailer and would like to collaborate with a batch of kids’ bikes?
We look for all sizes of bikes:
- Balance Bikes
- 14” and 16” Bikes, with or without training wheels
- 20” and 24” youth bikes – These sizes are always the ones we need the most!
- 26”, 27.5” and 29” adult sized bikes for teens, young adults and parents
What types of bikes are we looking for?
- Kids bikes of all sizes and for all ages
- Mountain bikes that can be used in the trails
- Hybrid bikes that can be used for commuting
Old or new, well used or barely ridden, in perfect condition or in need of a bit of TLC (as long as they’re not completely rusted!). We will make sure to clean the bikes up, repair whatever needs to be repaired, and make them nice and safe before they go to their new homes.
Please bring your pre-loved bikes to the Family Services of the North Shore Community Hub, located on the 2nd floor of the Capilano Mall (former Sears department stores).
2. Make a monetary donation
If you’d like to participate but you don’t have any bikes to donate – worry not! We also accept monetary donations and Fundraising efforts. These will be put to good use in two main areas:
- For mechanic labour and to purchase necessary parts for repairs: tires, tubes, brake and shifter hoses and cables, brake pads…
- To contribute to our helmet program – Because a fun ride is always a safe ride, we provide a brand new helmet with every bike.

3. Join our volunteer crew
With this new chapter of Wonder Wheels we will have more bikes to receive, more space to store them, more work to be done. For this reason we are in need of volunteers that can help us organize the bikes, move them around, clean up the space, dispose of un-fixable bikes and scrap metal… and in general help our mechanic crew to work more efficiently.
Also, if you have mechanical skills and want to help fix up some bikes, we’re always looking to add more people to the team!
