Shimano's SG-S700 hub oil is a specially formulated mineral-based lubricant designed exclusively for the Alfine 11-speed internally geared hub. Using the wrong oil can cause poor shifting, increased wear, and long-term damage — this is the genuine Shimano formula your hub needs.

Regular oil changes are the single most important maintenance task for keeping an Alfine 11-speed running smoothly. Shimano recommends changing the oil after the first 1,000km, then every 5,000km or every two years.
